Reducing Your Risk of Falls
This information was developed with local health professionals, carers, and people with lived experience.
Many falls can be prevented with small changes at home and in daily routines.
What you can do
- Keep moving. Walking, Tai Chi, gentle yoga and strength exercises help balance.
- Make your home safer. Remove clutter, improve lighting, and add non-slip mats and grab rails.
- Wear well-fitting, non-slip footwear.
- Have regular vision and hearing checks.
- Review medications with your GP or pharmacist.
If you have a fall, tell a health professional, even if you were not injured. They can check your balance, strength, medications and home safety.
