Eating Well as You Age

This information was developed with local health professionals, carers, and people with lived experience.

Eating well helps your strength, your mobility and your immunity, and it is good for how you feel day to day.

  • Aim for five portions of fruit and vegetables daily.
  • Choose higher-fibre varieties like brown bread and brown rice.
  • Include protein, such as fish, eggs, meat, beans, lentils and dairy.
  • Choose calcium-rich options for strong bones.
  • Keep regular mealtimes, and make meals social when possible.

Speak to your GP if you notice unintentional weight loss, low appetite, or difficulty preparing meals.
